49. Young Cowboy poetry contest

In conjunction with the Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering, KXLO-KLCM radio in Lewistown is sponsoring a ‘Young Cowboy Poet Search’ contest to encourage students 8 – 18 to try their luck at writing ‘cowboy poetry.’ All youth participants will receive two complimentary day passes to Cowboy Poetry and the Western Art & Gear Show at The Yogo Inn August 13, 14 & 15. Participants will also have an opportunity to record an original poem for broadcast. Two grand prize winners (from ages 8 – 12, and 13 – 18) will be invited to recite (or read) their original poem at the Saturday, August 14th cowboy poetry night show at the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts, ‘on stage’ with Red Steagall, Gwen Petersen (the founder of Montana Cowboy Poetry) and Henry Real Bird (Montana’s Poet Laureate). Each of the Grand Prize winners will receive two complimentary tickets for the night show at the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts (for their beaming parents), and a handsome KXLO-KLCM logo jacket. / Bozone.com
