Über den Pulitzerpreisträger Carl Dennis schreiben die Dallas Morning News:
„As for your poems,“ the 62-year-old poet has the health workers saying in „Progressive Health,“ „[t]he few you may have it in you to finish – /Even if we don’t judge them by those you’ve written, /Even if we assume you finally stage a breakthrough,/It’s doubtful they’ll raise one Lazarus from the grave.“
Perhaps Mr. Dennis spoke too soon, for that breakthrough actually did come on April 9, when he emerged from obscurity to win the Pulitzer Prize for poetry, prompting many literary critics and poets to say, “ Carl who? “ / The Dallas Morning News 21.4.02
