David Budbill, a poet and playwright, died early Sunday morning at his home in Montpelier, according to an announcement from his family. The cause was Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare form of Parkinson’s Disease. Budbill was 76.
“We have just lost a great Vermont voice, and a voice for Vermonters,” said Ellen McCulloch-Lovell, a friend of Budbill’s who is a poet and former president of Marlboro College. “People who didn’t know anything about the technicalities of writing poetry, read and enjoyed his poems. … They spoke to a whole variety of people.” / Burlington Free Press
